Title: Ten Scarlet Soldiers Lyrics: Asa Turney (Lyrica Live) - / asa-turney Vocals: Akuno Raion Original Composer: ZUN Original Song: "U.N. Owen Was Her?" - Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil --- Whew. So I tried a couple of tactics here. One was starting off horribly off-key to make the song sound creepier and more like it was sung by a child who isn't too trained in vocals (a la Flandre). Hopefully, that doesn't just sound bad and the point gets across. I know that Asa said in her blog post that this was meant to be sung a capella, but I couldn't help myself but add the minimal music box in the back. I also added some white noise as if this were some, er, creepy recording I guess? If you listen carefully, the noise fades at the last line. I wonder what that means...? Next, if you wanna know why I chose the characters I did for each verse, you can check that here: https://sta.sh/01qala7s2cp0 Finally, I want to thank Asa Turney for having such a gift with words. It makes it all the more fun! --- Lyrics: Ten little soldiers meet for a dinner; Gathered round a decadent feast, they settled down to dine. One took a big bite, too much to swallow: Choked in vain, and then there were nine. Nine little soldiers play through the evening; Losing track of time yet again, they sat up very late. One forgot to wake in the morning: Left to sleep, and then there were eight. Eight little soldiers ride to a new land; Traveling for fun, they had found a place you might call heaven. One said, “Why, I’d sure like to stay here!”: Cozied up, and then there were seven. Seven little soldiers camp in a forest; Trying to build a fire, they were chopping up some sticks. One swung hard and missed where the log was: Chopped in half, and then there were six. Six little soldiers climb through the treetops; Bumbling and stumbling on a branch that held a hive. One got stung by a great mad queen bee: Swollen up, and then there were five. Five little soldiers stand at the courthouse; Waiting on a trial, they were crowding by the door. One fell straight through some silly loophole: Overruled, and then there were four. Four little soldiers swim in the ocean; Wading out too far in the big and blue and rolling sea; One crossed paths with a mean red herring: Swallowed up, and then there were three. Three little soldiers out for the weekend; Making friends with animals, they were strolling through the zoo. One got hugged by a nice big brown bear: Loved too much, and then there were two. Two little soldiers bathe by the well-hole; Drying off their drizzly heads, they lounged beneath the sun. One got burnt by the friendly fire: Frizzled up, and then there was one. One little soldier, locked in a tower; Broken all the toys, there was not much way of having fun. Nothing left and no one to play with: Hanged herself, and then there were none.
