The Wall Lift (Chair 10) is Kirkwood's signature lift, traveling from the Mountain Village to a point on the ridgeline below the summit of Thimble Peak. Along the way, it accesses the legendary terrain on The Wall, full of cornice drops, rocky chutes, high alpine bowls, and long glades. Chair 10 is one of the longest fixed grip lifts out there, with a vertical rise of 1,615 feet and a total inclined length of 5,748 feet. It has a height adjustable "Yanbox" bottom drive terminal, with a 550 horsepower drive motor and has a capacity of 1,800 people per hour. The 1986 triple chair is full of classic Lift Engineering quirks, such as offset towers, long light side flyovers, a very tall terminal above treeline that is painted beige with massive sheaves to reduce rime, and a unique top terminal set up that integrates a tower into the bullwheel assembly. It is rare to find such a long fixed grip lift in an era of detachable quads, let alone at a Vail Resort, but Chair 10 does not disappoint. The base to summit line plus the wealth of extreme terrain offered make The Wall Lift at Kirkwood a truly unique chairlift and one of my personal favorites. Towers: 17 Chairs: 195
