David Pelcovitz is a clinical psychologist, whose career over the past 40 years has focused on clinical practice and research efforts in areas related to trauma, child abuse and parenting. He is currently the Straus Chair in Psychology and Education at the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education at Yeshiva University, where he also serves as Special Assistant to the president as well as teach courses in Pastoral Psychology to the Yeshiva's Rabbinical students. Before assuming that position, Dr. Pelcovitz was Director of Psychology at North Shore University Hospital and Clinical Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. Among his books are Life in the Balance: Torah Perspective on Positive Psychology and Balanced Parenting -- both co-authored with his father and a number of other books, research papers and monographs mostly focusing on PTSD and child abuse.
