(28 Nov 1994) Eng/Nat The leader of the United Nations' forces in Bosnia has spoken of the plight of 140 British and Dutch peacekeepers who have disappeared. Lt. Gen. Sir Michael Rose urged people not to worry. It's believed that they are being detained by the Bosnian Serb army. ``Well of course it's extremely worrying for me to have anybody detained whether it be in a weapon collecting site or on convoys. And as you know there are a number of British convoys and Dutch convoys that have been held for the past 48 hours. Up till then we've been running convoys fairly freely across Bosnian Serb held territory in spite of the fighting that is going on in Bihac. But I would like to reassure everybody that although it is an anxious time for us all they should not get too worried. We've been through this position before. We've kept cool heads we have maintained reasonable working relations at each level with the Bosnian Serbs and we have come through without any loss of life or damage to equipment and I hope very much that this will be the case. Certainly up till now there have been no threats made against anyone and indeed last night on one particular convoy position a pig was roasted for the troops held at that position.'' SUPER CAPTION: Lt. Gen. Michael Rose Rose said the UN had been in contact with all the convoys held by the Serbs. ``They're held there until the situation clarifies itself. We've also had assurances from the Pale authorities that they are also considering now release. But of course I don't want to raise false hopes because we've had many false promises made in this country before. But at the moment I would urge people not to get unduly worried about what's happening. We've been through it before it is an anxious time for us all but if we keep calm and keep cool we'll get through it OK.'' SUPER CAPTION: Lt. Gen.
