At Cadent, we are dedicated to decarbonizing our gas distribution system to reduce waste, improve efficiencies, and minimize emissions. As the UK's largest gas distribution network, Cadent manages over 82,000 miles of pipes, delivering gas to 11 million homes and businesses across the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, South Yorkshire, East of England, and North London. In this video, JD Lawley, Head of the Future Energy Connections team at Cadent, discusses our journey and innovations in integrating biomethane into our gas network. With 44 biomethane entry connections injecting green, renewable gas, we are already heating the equivalent of 290,000 homes. Our goal is to increase this capacity to 2 million homes by 2033. Discover how biomethane, produced from food waste, sewage, and agricultural waste, serves as a renewable energy source that reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and imported gas, boosts UK job creation, and enhances energy security. While biomethane alone cannot meet today's gas demand, it is part of a broader strategy alongside hydrogen and the overhaul of our electricity network to achieve a whole system energy approach and reach net zero. Join us to learn more about Cadent’s efforts to innovate and transform the UK’s gas distribution for a sustainable future. #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #Biomethane #RenewableGas #NetZero #EnergyInnovation #CadentGas
