In this episode: Terra Tech’s subsidiary, Edible Garden, are now shipping 4 inches potted living herbs to Wegmans Food Markets located in New Jersey. Wegmans is a privately held American regional supermarket chain that operates over 85 stores in the mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Edible Garden produces local and sustainably grown hydroponic produce such as basil, parsley, oregano, cilantro, and mint. In addition to Edible Garden’s organic range of herbs, the company also features vitamin supplement brands like Vitamin Way and Slim Trim. According to CEO of Terra Tech, Derek Peterson, the company has tripled their 4-inch herb line production since the second quarter of 2016 due to its high demand. This week, the Ohio Supreme Court amended the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct to allow attorneys the option to advise clients working in the medical marijuana industry. Although medical marijuana became legal earlier this month, a warning was issued by the state Board of Professional Conduct that stated lawyers may or may not be subject to punishment if they were to work with any clients within the marijuana industry. According to the new statute, “A lawyer may counsel or assist a client regarding conduct expressly permitted under a new subsection that authorizes the use of marijuana for medical purposes and any state statutes, rules, or other provisions implementing the act. In these circumstances, the lawyer may advise the client regarding related federal law.” Nevada officials are now offering the medical marijuana card process online. According to The Las Vegas Sun, this will eliminate the need for patients to make trips to a Department of Motor Vehicles brand and a Division of Public and Behavioral Health office. Patients will be able to submit all forms on the Nevada Dispensary Association website. Association Executive Riana Durrett says the online system follows a year of negotiations between the association and state officials. Now, patients will only have to leave their homes for a doctor’s visit in order to complete the application the process. The doctor’s approval can be scanned and uploaded to submit with the application.
