It is quite common for Indians to try and persuade each other about the superiority of their respective languages. Unfortunately, sometimes these conversations can become heated and lead to unpleasant incidents. To address this issue in a beautiful way, our children chose our annual day to come up with an idea. We asked all parents to bring a card with the word "India" written in their mother tongue or native language. Then, during a skit on the same theme, we asked them to exchange the cards. As a result, a Tamilian received a card with "India" written in Telugu, an Urdu speaker got a card with "India" written in Kannada, and a Hindi speaker received a card with "India" written in Malayalam. This activity represented a true picture of India - from mine and yours to OURS.
