The postal service as many of you know, was the first public service to re-open in this country following the war and this is the next step, providing or augmenting the complete postal system with the new Iraqi stamp." 15. Mid shot of news conference STORYLINE: Iraq launched its first postal stamps since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime on Sunday. The 50 and 100 Dinar stamps - worth less than one cent of the dollar - will replace the old ones that, like everything else in Iraq, were decorated with the face of President Saddam Hussein. Other stamps that will come into circulation in the next months were exhibited at the main post office building in Baghdad. With no telephone lines and a very limited number of computers the old fashioned letter is still the principal means of communications amongst Iraqis leaving in different parts of the country and abroad. At a news conference on Saturday, Coalition Authority spokesman Dan Senor said the launch of the new stamps was an important step for Iraq, both practically and symbolically.
