Dear friends, It is with a mixture of sadness and deep gratitude that we announce the transition of our beloved co-pastors, Tim and Susie Grade, into their next chapter of ministry. The Grades have poured their love and resources into Platt Park Church since founding it 14 years ago. We are so grateful for their strong and creative leadership that has been able to navigate both the administrative and spiritual needs of this community. It is a heavy load to pastor the congregation while also bearing the responsibility of running the organizational component of Platt Park Church. Tim and Susie have carried this load joyfully for many years. With the onset of Covid, the past four years have been extremely challenging for humanity and every organization. The pandemic has reshaped our world and touched all of us personally and vocationally. Platt Park Church is no exception to this new landscape. Pastors have carried an unsustainable and disproportionate share of the traumas within their communities during this historic period. Earlier this year Tim and Susie came to the Elder Board and expressed feelings of tiredness, burnout, and exhaustion with the current organizational structure. They asked for a change in their roles and we considered many options over many months. We struggled to find alignment between their desired roles, coordinating staff and administrative leadership inside those roles, and the needs of the congregation. While their roles as co-pastors on staff at Platt Park Church will be changing at the end of January 2024, as founders they will always be a part of this community. We pray for rest and rejuvenation for them as they process their own experiences, spend time with friends and family, and discern whatever God has in store for them next. We want to assure you that the staff and leadership of the church are committed to continuing what God is doing in and through this faith community. We trust that God is guiding us into a new chapter in our church. A search committee is being formed and we will begin a collaborative search with the staff to find a full-time lead pastor who resonates with the heart, ethos, and spirit of our church. As this process unfolds, we are heartened by the staff’s strong commitment to the congregation and their dedication to helping people become passionate devoted followers of Christ. Please join us in celebrating Tim and Susie during this transition period as we reflect on everything they have accomplished and as they embark on this new season of life, trusting in the Lord's leading and provision.
