The incubation of the egg(s) continues. American Bald Eagles usually lay 2-3 eggs per mating season. There have always been at least two and sometimes three eaglets in this nest for the past several years, and I see no reason why not expect the same for this season. Two is normal, three being exceptional. The last time the nest held three eaglets, it went down in a spring storm, and we lost one of the eaglets that year, but the other two survived and went on to fledge from the forest floor. I would greatly enjoy seeing three eaglets fledge out of this nest this year. One can only hope. In this video, you will see J2 (male adult Eagle) fly into the nest with a fish in his talon. Soon after he lands, his mate, J1 (female adult Eagle) comes flying into the nest. She wants the fish he just caught, and he gives it up to her willingly. He moves to a branch just outside the nest bowl to give her some room to eat. After getting her fill, she returns her attention back to the egg(s) in the nest and goes back to incubating. J2 remains vigilant and stays close by.
