Why Roosevelt Was Fired Alongside Terry Allen - Then Won The Medal of Honor

In August nineteen forty three, Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Junior was relieved of command alongside Terry Allen from the First Infantry Division. The Army brass said he loved his soldiers too much. Ten months later, this same discarded general landed on Utah Beach with the first wave on D Day, the oldest man in the entire invasion at fifty six years old. When strong currents pushed his landing craft two thousand yards off target, Roosevelt made a decision that saved countless American lives. Armed only with a pistol and his walking cane, he calmly declared they would start the war from right here. His actions that morning earned him the Medal of Honor, making him and his father President Theodore Roosevelt one of only two father son pairs in American history to both receive the nation's highest military honor. This is the incredible true story of a general who was thrown away by the Army and proved them all wrong on the most important day of the twentieth century. Discover how the qualities that got Roosevelt fired in Sicily became the very qualities that made him essential in Normandy.
