SHURE M3D VS M3D WITH VIVIDLINE N21VL STYLUS It’s amazing that replacement styli are still available for the Shure M3D, a 67 year old cartridge. And it’s even more amazing that there is a replacement stylus with a line-contact tip. The LP Gear/LP Tune Vivid Line N21VL stylus uses a line contact tip with the same dimensions as the Stanton Stereohedron II stylus. It has a 0.2 mil tracing edge with a long 3.0 mil contact length that covers over 4 times the groove wall as the original 0.7 mil spherical stylus, the line-contact stylus produces higher detail, greater clarity and lower distortion.
