We all love roses. There are so many varieties of roses we can choose to light up our gardens. Roses are generally classified under 5 different types. 1. Hybrid Tea 2. Floribunda 3. Miniature 4. Climbers and Ramblers 5. Shrub Roses Lets learn a thing or two about these types of roses. 1. Hybrid Tea: These type of roses tend to be tall in nature and number of flowers on each stem is generally limited to one. May be thats why these groups of roses are also known as 'Large Flowered Rose'. The flowers are very big sized according to their growth habbit. Some popular roses of this type are- Admiral Rodney, Mr. Lincon, Ace of Hearts, Alec's Red etc. 2. Floribunda: The large flower cluster of Foribunda roses came from R. multiflora, a type of wild rose. Floribunda roses are created by hybridization between R. Multiflora and Hybrid teas. Their flowering season are long. They are also known as dwarf Polyanthas. A famous hybridizer, Poulson of Denmark in the early 1920s crossed these with Hybrid Teas which resulted into producing the hybrid Polyanthas, which are renamed 'Floribunda' in the 1950s. Floribunda also make attractive hedges. Some of the important cultivars of Floribunda roses are given below- Iceberg, Summer Snow, Arunima, Sadabahar, Mohini, Flamenco etc. 3.Miniature: The miniature roses are known for many years. They are little flowers borne on little bushes and mostly look like Floribunda roses. These lovely little flowers are gaining popularity among the gardeners. The blends of colours, texture, and the subtle differences in shape and form, delicate fragrance, as well as low height encourage gardeners to use them for edging and for decorating balconies. Some of the popular miniatures are- Angel Rippon, Body Masquerade, Canady Cane, Chandrika, Chipper, Cindrella etc. 4. #Climbers & Ramblers: To screen the ugly views of the gardens, for covering pergolas, #walls , #fences , #trellis and banks, to train on bare trees, and for landscaping large and small areas, these groups of plants play important role. Climbers can be divided into natural born climbers and bush roses changed to Climbing habbit through hybridization. There are large number of climbers available in india. In colder regions they grow beautifully. Only few of them do that well in hot regions of our country. #ClimbingRoses best suited for #hotareas are- Joseph's Coat, Cocktail, Clg. Iceberg, Clg Chrimson Glory, Fourth Of July, Prosperity. These grow well in #pots too. 5. Shrub Roses: These are excellent roses for hedging purpose. In the garden these plants may be mixed with other kind of shrubs. In most of the varieties flowers are freely produced. Plants are vigorous, and well branched which makes them bushy, and do not require great deal of pruning. The flowers are large or small, borne or twos and threes, or in big clusters, more or less continuous flowering.
