This is your usual programme: 'GOD IS WITH YOU' by your humble servant, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Bartholomew Koroma, CSSp. A member of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers commonly known as Spiritans. Our First Reading today is taking from Deuteronomy 26:4-10. The reading instructs the Israelites, upon entering the Promised Land, to bring the first fruits of their harvest to the place God chooses, acknowledging God's gift of the land and their dependence on Him, and offering a confession of gratitude for His blessings. The Second Reading is coming from Paul’s letter to the Romans 10:8-13. The connection between salvation, confession, and faith is explained by Paul in this reading. The passage highlights the Gospel's accessibility and universality, emphasising that anybody who confesses their faith in Christ can be saved. Our Gospel is taking from Luke 4:1-13. This passage describes Jesus' temptation by the devil in the wilderness; a place of testing and trial after his baptism, where he is led by the Spirit and faces three temptations, after fasting for forty days and forty nights. However, Jesus resists these temptations by quoting scripture and remaining faithful to God's will. Each of the temptations can be seen as an attempt to undermine or distort God’s plan for Jesus. Through these trials, Jesus demonstrates that He is the true Son of God, and He resists the devil’s offers, reaffirming His commitment to God’s will.
