Hypertensive Emergencies are characterized by acute, severe elevations in Blood pressure. This Emergency Medicine V-Learning™ explains essential Hypertension pathophysiology, symptoms of hypertensive crisis, its physical examination, and differential diagnosis. Moreover, diagnosis testing and treatment of hypertensive emergency is also discussed for medical students. ▬ 📃 Hypertensive Emergencies Hypertension is an increase in Blood pressure in the arteries. An increase in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure up to the level of more than 140 mmHg and more than 90 mmHg respectively is referred to as hypertension. Hypertensive emergencies arise when a severe increase in Blood pressure occurs i.e. systolic BP of more than 180 mmHg and diastolic BP of more than 130 mmHg. This hypertensive crisis has an increased risk of end-organ damage. Symptoms of hypertensive crisis encompass severe chest pain, severe headache, and severe anxiety. Essential Hypertension pathophysiology explains the underlying mechanism as circulating vasoconstriction causes an abrupt increase in systemic vascular resistance and an abrupt increase in Blood pressure is also noted. As a result, endothelial damage takes place and autoregulatory function is lost, causing end-organ ischemia. Acute coronary syndrome, subarachnoid Hemorrhage, hypertensive encephalopathy acute renal failure, and several other diseases are discussed differential diagnosis of acute Hypertension. Along with Electrocardiography and Clinical Radiology techniques, some laboratory tests such as complete Blood count, pregnancy test, and toxicologic testing are carried out for the proper diagnosis. A variety of treatment options are available including hydralazine, nitroprusside, and hydralazine. ▬ 🎬 5500+ sqadia.com Medical Videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👩🏻⚕️ Accessible Medical Student Education 24/7/365 💡 Simplifying Medical Learning 💪 Study Hard, Dream Big, Achieve More
