A large, noisy and peaceful protest sent a powerful message to the cruel and corrupt greyhound racing industry on Friday October 17. Two dozen groups from animal protection, politics, and the community united to protest the Million Dollar Disgrace at Wentworth Park. Many rescued greyhounds looked on approvingly. Speakers included Emma Hurst from AJP, Mehreen Faruqi and Abigail Boyd from the Greens, the deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney, and independent MPs Alex Greenwich and Jacqui Scruby. Supporting groups included Australian Alliance for Animals, Animal Liberation, Companion Animal Network Australia, Four Paws, Friends of the Hound, GREY2K USA Worldwide, Hounds in Homes, Humane World for Animals, Sentient, Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, and Voiceless.
