🎺 Listen to the Silent Notes — The Secret to Musical Awareness! 🎶 One of the biggest lessons I try to share with melodic players — especially brass musicians — is how to listen beyond your own part. Even when you’re practising alone, it’s so important to imagine what the rest of the ensemble is doing — to hear the silent notes around you. That’s where the real music lives! In this video, I take a look at the beautiful Air from J. S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D (you’ll find a version of it in Music 4 Fun, which you can download free below 👇). You’ll hear how one long note in the melody can come alive when you understand what’s happening underneath — a descending bass line that gently pushes the melody forward. It’s the perfect example of how harmony makes melody move. I’ll also share a little story from my university days and show how I arranged this Air as a duet for trumpet and trombone — and how Bach’s genius still shines through, even with just two instruments. 👉 Download Music 4 Fun for free: [link in comments]👉 Subscribe for more musical insights and examples! #Bach #Music4Fun #AskIvan #TrumpetLesson #Trombone #MusicEducation #LearnMusic #BrassPlayers #MusicTheory #OrchestralMusic
