"Our Summer of Swim"

My 3 year old son, Utah, took Ms. Cathy's Swim Class (Austin, TX) these last two weeks and I cannot explain how much has changed in our lives because of it. At the top of our list of major life changes would be that I feel completely safe & confident that Utah will know what to do in case of an emergency. He now knows not to panic, to keep his eyes down in the water, to kick his legs (without bending at the knee) and to use his "puppy arms", as Ms. Cathy calls them, and to climb out to safety. Not only is he safer in the water now, but he truly enjoys it! He loves the feeling of going in and out of the water! He loves that he can now "swim like a big boy"! He is so very proud of his accomplishments and that is incredible to see as a parent! Even the little things count! He learned how to blow his nose because of this swim class! It seems like such a silly little thing, but we all know how frustrating it is to have a nose full of yucky stuff and not be able to do anything about it! My husband and I have been trying to teach Utah how to do it for a year or more now... So, for us, it's huge! Utah left his last class with Ms. Cathy today asking if she and her daughters & assistant teachers, Miss Brittany & Miss Samantha, could come over to his house to have a "pik-wik dinner date on the floor!" Such a sweetie. He fell in love with this beautiful family, and so did I! I'm thrilled and thoroughly impressed with Ms. Cathy's program. Being a former special education teacher myself and also having a younger sister that has Autism, I really appreciate that Cathy specializes in working with kiddos, and adults, on the spectrum. Her calm, confident and stern nature is exactly what they need, as well as any other swim student. I recommend this program with my whole heart. I honestly feel like Ms. Cathy has saved my child's life, and for that I owe her everything. Please watch, share & enjoy the video I've made. It's full of clips from these past 2 weeks!
