Here is our video tour and review of Cades Cove Campground Loop C in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are three loops in the campground. Loop A is ADA accessible, Loop B allows generators and Loop C is generator free section. This is a popular campsite, especially on Tuesday nights and Wednesdays. During the summer, the 11 mile loop around Cades Cove is closed to vehicle traffic and only open to park employees vehicles, hikers and bicycles. A lot of people stay in this campground to partake in this summer activity. The campground itself has a little more of a commercial feel than other campgrounds, like Smokemont. The actual sites are much closer together. However, the loop is surrounded by forest. So you are secluded from major traffic, but you had better like your neighbors, because they are very close. The Loop C area did not have any streams nearby, but it did have flushable toilets and running water. There is a grey water sink on the back of the restroom building and there were working water fountains for potable water. The restroom themselves were moderately clean. The restrooms at Smokemont were much cleaner and more frequently attended too by park staff. With everyone packed in sort of tightly, the air was pretty stagnant, but the grounds themselves were very clean. It is in a bear habitat, so you have to follow food storage guidelines. One of the pros is the close proximity to a camp store. The store sells, food, snacks, water, ice, firewood, and other merchandise. The camp store also has an after hours honor system for firewood and ice. After 6 PM, get what you need and then pay the next day. They also rent bicycles a the camp store complex as well. Overall this is a nice campground for car camping. The attraction is not the campsite itself, but the location where you can hike or bike Cades Cove. If you are planning on visiting Cades Cove, then this campground should suit your needs for a day or two. Personally I would choose another campsite for a longer stay, elsewhere in the park.
