1935 Talbot Special - offered for sale with Robin Lawton Vintage Cars

1935 Talbot 105 Special Designed by gifted Swiss engineer, Georges Roesch, Talbot motor cars were of very high quality and found favour among a discerning clientele. Talbot’s sporting prowess won them many followers and their successes were numerous. The ‘105’ model, with its 3-litre engine, was a formidable vehicle and in 1931 in ‘Brooklands trim’ a power output of 125 bhp was claimed. Despite Talbot withdrawing from racing in 1932, major Talbot dealer Warwick Wright successfully ran a team of three 105 models. The final swansong for the Company was the 3.5 litre BG110, being the last of the Roesch designs and just 89 were built. By 1937, following Talbot’s acquisition by the Rootes Brothers, further models were to become rationalised using Humber/Hillman components and the great days of ‘The Invincible Talbot’ had passed. Commencing life as a 1935 Airline 105 Saloon, this motor car was rebuilt as a sporting special in 1955 and there are several photographs on file showing it in this form and competing. By the mid-60s she had acquired a new body form, having been rebuilt clearly inspired by Talbot Team Cars of the early 1930s and remains in this form today. A car very much in the great tradition of VSCC Specials, she has enjoyed an illustrious career, including competing at Silverstone and is now ready for new challenges. With the superbly smooth, 6-cylinder engine and pre-selector gear box, Talbots provide effortless performance and this motor car should prove ideal for road use, hillclimb, racing or sprints. She has a current VSCC Buff Form. The extensive history files make truly fascinating reading. There is a green VE60 log book, and a number of photographs of ‘BOJ’ as she is known by virtue of her distinctive registration number.
