Petra, Jordan During our two-week trip around Jordan, we devoted two full days to Petra. We arrived to Wadi Musa (a town near the entrance to Petra) late in the evening. The hotel where we spent three nights was about a 15-minute walk away. On the first day we decided to see Little Petra and take the trail leading from Little Petra to Petra. The owner of the hotel organized for us the transport from Wadi Musa to Little Petra (about 20 km). The entire trail is 12.6 km long. It is worth to spend at least 1 hour in Little Petra. Considering all this, it is best to start the day as early as possible. You can shorten the hike a bit by choosing to cover the first section of the road (about 5 km) leading through the desert by transport, which must be purchased in the morning before entering Little Petra. We took advantage of this option. The next day we entered Petra through the main entrance through the Siq gorge (1.2 km), which was the only way into the city. Then we walked the High Place of Sacrifice trail, from which you can see the city from above. The rest of the day we spent exploring the city in more detail.
