Misalignment across MTSS tiers can confuse struggling readers and slow progress. The key to success is consistency. The tiers aren’t in competition with one another. Instead of creating three distinct instructional programs at each tier, intensify instruction using the same research-backed approach. To intensify your interventions, adjust key variables like focusing on a skill the student is missing, giving them more time to practice, and allowing students to practice in smaller groups for more personalized instruction.
