Hallym University Exchange Program Introduction Video, 2007

This video was done as a requirement for the Exchange Program in Hallym University, Gangwondo, South Korea. Hello, good day! My name is Allan Yasser Z. Abdula, and my friends call me Allan. I'm 21 years old and currently studying communication research at the College of Communication, University of the Philippines Diliman. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful program, where I can meet new people and experience different cultures. Today, I am here to introduce myself so that you can get to know me better. I am the eldest in my family and have two siblings. While I am Catholic, my father is a Muslim. However, this religious difference has brought us closer and strengthened our bond. In essence, we are a very close-knit family. Personally, I enjoy watching movies, reading books, and spending quality time with my friends. However, I also value spending time alone because it allows me to reflect on various aspects of life and appreciate the beauty of nature. Studying at the University of the Philippines has taught me many valuable lessons. It has not only prepared me intellectually but has also made me socially aware. This, I believe, sets UP students apart from others. The university has a legacy of achieving academic excellence while fostering social consciousness. Working with Koreans is not new to me. I started collaborating with Koreans during high school when I participated in a building project organized by the international organization Habitat for Humanity. Since then, I have always found working with Koreans to be a pleasant experience. I have worked as a personal tutor and recently transitioned to online tutoring, which has taught me important values such as diligence and responsibility. Now, I am looking forward to enjoying my time here at the university. I hope to meet all of you soon. Have a nice day!
