Esteemed colorectal surgeon Dr. Laila Rashidi of Multicare of Tacoma, Washington, shares her journey from growing up in the Middle East to becoming a leading surgeon in the colorectal field. Devoted to helping others, Colorectal Surgeon Dr. Laila Rashidi has been honored with the 2024 "Empowered Women In Medicine" award. This esteemed accolade is bestowed by the Patient Preferred Physicians Network, recognizing Dr. Rashidi for her leadership, excellence in patient care, and inspirational attitude in healthcare. Dr. Laila Rashidi is a colorectal surgeon serving Tacoma and the surrounding communities and is associated with MultiCare Colon and Rectal Surgery. MultiCare is a hospital and clinic network offering comprehensive health services including primary care, urgent care, and the largest multispecialty clinic in the Inland Northwest region. Dr. Rashidi is the Program Director for the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), director for surgical oncology, and a program director of Minimal Invasive Surgery fellowship at MultiCare Health System. Dr. Rashidi graduated in Engineering from the University of Tehran. She then moved to the U.S. to pursue her medical training, ultimately receiving her Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University. She then completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, followed by a Colorectal Surgery fellowship at Swedish Medical Center. It was during this time she received extensive training in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic, laparoscopic, and Trans Anal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS).
