Christmas Concerto for ukulele and small orchestra

The inspiration for this piece was a brilliant concert we saw in June 2025 when Piers Adams and La Folia played Vivaldi's Concerto for recorder and strings. it was a virtuosic performance with an improvised feel to the recorder part. Vivaldi also wrote wonderful concertos for lute and mandolin but the ukulele had not reached Italy in the 1700s! My aim was to use harmonies and orchestration which would have been familiar to Vivaldi and tunes with a Christmas feel, but without any obvious quotations. The orchestra consists of strings, two flutes, bassoon, trumpet and kettle drums - here created by sampled and modelled instruments.
