This very old Sicilian Filastrocche (Sicilian Nursery Rhyme) is a funny tale told with images of Italian playing cards. The story is of a King who had a daughter. The daughter had a bird. The daughter's bird flew away and she was distraught. The King, wanting to please his daughter, issued a decree that the first eligible bachelor to capture and return the bird will be given the King's daughter's hand in marriage. It so happened that a very lazy horseman found the bird and brought it to the King so that the King would fulfil his promise of exchanging the bird with the hand of his daughter. The daughter, however, was NOT impressed by the lazy gentlemen and decided to reject her suitor. The horseman, being equally unimpressed, and much to the surprise of the King and his daughter, allowed the King to save face and released the bird in the air to spite the woman who spurned him.
