Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip step ashore on arrival at Guernsey. They get into a car while crowds wave. M/S of archway of leaves with the words 'A La Prochaine' picked out in flowers on it. C/U of a bull's face. Various shots of Princess and Prince looking at bulls at some kind of country show. They then look at a huge display of fruit and vegetables including tomatoes and grapes hanging down on vines in a greenhouse. Crowds wave as Royal car comes along street. Princess walks along line of ex-servicemen and stops to chat to them. Pan of crowds at Saumarez Park. Royals step onto dais. Princess chats to Bailiff of Guernsey (Sir Ambrose James Sherwill) on dais. Princess and Duke arrive at Old Government House for dinner; she in fur cape and calf-length dress. Sound cuts in and we see back view of Elizabeth walking in Saumarez Park. Prince shakes hands with a man in the park. Princess is accompanied by Bailiff and Mrs M Harding - local Welfare Chief. M/S of onlookers. Elizabeth shakes hands with Mrs Harding. On the dais we hear the Bailiff making a welcoming speech to Princess and Prince. He presents Princess with a book (?). Elizabeth then makes a speech, thanking the people for their welcome, talking of the time during the war when the Channel Islands were occupied by German forces and says they hope to return soon with their son (Prince Charles). She hands her speech to the Bailiff and sits down, then is presented with a bouquet by a little girl. Bailiff leads the crowds in "Three cheers for their Royal Highnesses and the Prince Charles". Princess and Prince walk down from the dais. Mute shot of Royal couple being driven through countryside in open-backed car with escort of boys on bicycles on way to Government House.
