(5 Jul 1996) English/Nat A team of Finnish forensic experts continued on Friday to search for bodies in the hills near Kravice, close to the Eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica -- the scene of one of the most horrific episodes of the Bosnian war. The Finnish experts are hoping to aid U-N efforts to identify those missing and feared dead in the aftermath of Srebrenica's fall last July. Despite alleged obstruction by the local Bosnian Serb authorities, the Finnish team continued their search for bodies on Friday along a small track on the side of a hill near Kravice. The Finns have been in the Srebrenica region since Wednesday, examining the remains of corpses lying in the area - some in poses that suggest they were trying to hide when killed. They hope to help the U-N in their mission to identify those missing and feared dead in the aftermath of Srebrenica's fall. More than 6-thousand male residents are unaccounted for. Overwhelming evidence and the testimony of survivors points to a massacre by the Bosnian Serbs after they took the eastern Muslim enclave. It isn't an expedition without danger. A de-mining expert was called in to assist in checking the surrounding area for mines. The team discovered even more human remains and civilian clothing, after cutting the tall grass. Despite these findings however, the team plans to stop its work as the local Bosnian Serb authorities have refused to give them security guarantees.
