Lanceros aren't top sellers in cigar stores compared to the more popular sizes, but they do provide a nice change-of-pace experience for both new and seasoned cigar smokers. Generally, Lanceros are 7 to 7-1/2 inches long and have a slim 38-42 ring gauge. In this video I smoke the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Lancero - the Double Ligero is one of the most popular blends in the LFD line and this vitola really brings out the ligero spice and boldness. Besiides the FLD, I also discuss the Oliva V and Joya de Nicaragua Antano, which are also full bodied Lancero cigars. More in the medium-full range are the My Father La Promesa (a Rosado Oscuro wrapper) and Don Pepin Garcia lancero version. For a mild-medium experience I suggest the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon. Two other Lanceros I discuss have very limited distribution and are pretty pricey to boot. Opus X has a Lancero version (often referred to as "Phantom") at about $50 a stick if available, and perhaps the most sought-after Lancero in the world is the Cuban Cohiba Lancero (about $1,900 per box of 25, $99 sold single).
