The Marker is exposed due to the impact, and sits at the bottom of the Chixculub crater off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. 2 million BC The Alien inhabitants of Tau Volantis discover a Black Marker on their home planet. The Aliens begin to build Markers across the planet's surface in the hopes of harbouring energy for their own uses. A Necromorph outbreak begins, and The Black Marker triggers a Convergence Event, creating a Brethren Moon. The Aliens construct a Machine, which flash freezes their planet, halting the Convergence Event; but fails to destroy the Moon. The Tau Volantians become extinct. 2045 The New Horizons Lunar Colony is built on Earth’s Moon, Luna. 2214 DredgerCorp and the government discover the Black Marker off the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico; a floating research facility is constructed. Michael Altman reveals the existence of the Marker to the public. The excavation team is driven mad by the Marker's influence, with the exception of Altman. Isaac Clarke and John Carver mysteriously survive, and pursue the evacuating Unitologists to the CMS Terra Nova. They successfully rig the mass driver to use a modern ShockPoint drive and return to Earth, and find it under attack by the awakened Brethren Moons. So that’s the entire Dead Space Remake timeline.
