Aethagal (elephant rock) is located in the kurunegala district of the North Western province of Sri lanka. it is located in the middle of kurunegala city. it is so beautiful Rock in the shape of an elephant. there is a beautiful forest Camp at the top of aethagala. recently aethagala has become popular because of the large Samadhi Buddha statue built on top of the rock. the song "atugala wehera wadina" by singer "chamara weerasinghe" is related to this. the real rock is to be climbed through a beautiful forest. many rare plant species can be seen here.a very beautiful setting, the entire city of kurunegala can be seen from the top of the rock. people climb this Rock both as a recreational and religious pilgrimage. now vehicles has been provided to reach the top of the rock. kurunegala is about 94 km from Colombo, 42 km from kandy, 51 km from Mathale.
