Amazing view of Kutubdia Wind Power Plant [HD video] || Kutubdia Island || Cox's Bazar Bangladesh. Windmill at Kutubdia Island. Wind power mill at Kutubdia. Wind Turbine at Kutubdia Island. Beautiful Kutubdia Island. Wind Power Plant at Kutubdia. Kutubdia wind power plant. Kutubdia. Kutubdia Island Bangladesh. In Bangladesh only around 65% of the population have access to the electricity grid. The cost of running diesel generators for electricity is expensive and beyond the reach of most people living in rural areas, therefore hydrid systems which combine renewable energy and a diesel generator have strong potential. A 1000 kW hybrid wind-disel power plant in Kutubdia, Bangladesh was found by a recent study to be a cost effective and environmentally friendly way of supplying power to remote areas currently not connected to the grid. A 1 MW wind power plant opened in Kutubdia island of Cox’s Bazar on Friday, 10.02.2017. State minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid inaugurated the plant set up with 20 turbines each having 50 kilowatt production capacity. With this wind power unit, the total number of such green power plants reaches three. A similar capacity plant was earlier set up in this Kutubdia island which has been generating electricity for the last few years and the other one is situated at Mahurir Char island in Feni. Inaugurating the wind power plant, Nasrul Hamid said the government will continue its efforts to increase the power generation from renewable sources as this is the environment-friendly option. ‘Though renewable power generation is a costly option, the government will continue its endeavour for clean energy,’ he told the inauguration function at Kutubdia, which was also attended by local lawmaker Asheq Ullah Rafiq and power secretary Ahmed Kaikuas. He said the government has been working to reach electricity to every doorstep as per the commitment of prime minister Sheikh Hasina. ‘The target will be achieved much ahead of the deadline,’ he said.
