Apesar de ter nascido nascido na Alemanha, Georg Friedrich Händel ficou conhecido como um dos principais representantes da música inglesa. In this last video of the series, we come to England, a country that was one of the main cultural centres of Europe during the Baroque era. England was home to some of the major names in the trumpet world between the 17th and 18th centuries, such as trumpeters John Shore and Valentine Snow, and trumpet maker William Bull. The Sound of the Trumpet Welcome to the second video of the serie "The Sound of the Trumpet"! This series explores a recurring theme in the Baroque period throughout Europe: Suoni la tromba in Italy; Erschallet die Trompeten in Germany; Sound the Trumpet in England. This short term is recurrent in the music of this period, and suggests that the sound of the trumpet was something special, capable of fascinating audiences to the point of becoming the inspiration for many compositions! To demonstrate how composers from different nations treated the sound of the trumpet, we have chosen respectively pieces by P. Franceschini, J.C. Pezel and G.F. Händel (here representing England). Despite being born in Germany, Georg Friedrich Händel became known as one of the foremost representatives of English music. His Water Music was composed on commission by King George I, who wanted a piece to be performed in a boat on the river Thames. The piece is often divided into 3 suites, of which we present here the second, in D major.
