If there is one thing you should be doing every day as a medical student interested in surgery or a surgical resident it's tying knots. If there is a second thing it's sewing on bananas. Every day! Here are the things you can use to build a perfect knot tying kit: 1 12inch 2x4 4 3/4 inch screw in hooks Rubber bands String or suture For a deep tying kit I like: Metal paint can Magnetic hook With this simple setup you can be a knot tying machine! I can almost guarantee it! You just have to practice, make it a part of your daily routine. I remember before laparoscopic cases as a resident I would go and tie laparoscopic knots on the trainer before the case. This would warm up both my hands and my mind for what was to come. I recommend you warm up every morning so that it's fluid.
