A nostalgic journey through the countryside of Brazil, capturing the scenic train ride from Campinas to JaguariΓΊna. Trains arenβt very common in Brazil anymore. Back in the day, I used to take a train to the city of Bauru when I was in college, but those times have passed, and sadly, most railways have been abandoned. However, an organization called ABPF (Brazilian Association for Railway Preservation) has been working to restore old trains, offering a magical journey from Campinas to JaguariΓΊna, bringing a bit of history back to the countryside. I decided to take this trip more than once and document the experience. This video was filmed over the course of four months. It took a while because the train only runs twice a week, and I only had one camera. Plus, due to a recent drought, they couldnβt use the steam locomotive very often, and at times, it only operated for half the journey to minimize the risk of fires. The main 4-6-0 steam locomotive shown in this video was built by The Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia in 1895. The diesel locomotive was made by Electro-Motive Division (EMD) of General Motors in 1960. Being short and relatively lightweight, these diesel locomotives were introduced to phase out steam traction on branch lines and smaller trains of the Mogiana Railway. Its 875hp output matched that of larger steam locomotives, easily replacing the older engines for both freight and passenger trains. The railway in the region depicted in this video uses 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3/8 in) metre gauge tracks. More info (in Portuguese): https://www.mariafumacacampinas.com.br/ I hope you enjoy the video!
