"Niger: Living on the Edge of Survival" is a 62-minute documentary about the food crisis in Niger, West Africa. Although Niger has expansive and beautiful landscapes, wide diversity of cultures, and exotic wildlife, economic problems and environmental changes continue to make living in Niger a great challenge. This video explores some of the potential solutions to these long-term problems. Experts from several organizations are interviewed, including U.S. Peace Corps, Doctors Without Borders, and the Nigerien Red Cross. The use of grain banks as a tool to increase food stability while reducing reliance on foreign NGOs in times of food scarcity is discussed. This video also discusses Niger's potential for tourism. The friendly, hard working people of Niger provide much hope for a better future.
