Especially if you want to open 1,000s of Zephyrite Supply Boxes in search of some some of the rarest infusions in the game (Chak Infusion, Imperial Everbloom Infusion, Jar of Dangerous Spirits, etc.) or if you've been eyeing that pair of Invisible Boots to complete your beach wear outfit. Even if you don't care about opening these boxes, it's still a good idea to prepare for the festival, because you could instead of opening them, sell all of the materials to other players through the Trading Post, and get rich without being subject to any RNG. No 10,000 Gold infusion drops, but no risk either. Last year I hit the jackpot and got an infusion worth roughly 10K gold with relatively minimal investment. This year I want to open way more boxes than I managed to last year, though, and that comes with a couple of roadblocks: even if you have infinite gold, you can't buy an infinite supply of materials, and if you do manage to get enough materials to somewhat mitigate the low drop rates, you'll need to get inventory space. Lot's of inventory space. In the run up to the last festival I actually underestimated how many stacks of materials (Silk Scraps in my case, although Jute is cheaper now), I would need to hold onto to buy 10,000 boxes. This year, I'm planning ahead, but that's gonna cost me some gold as well...
