I wore a brace for nearly 2 years so I know a thing or two. 1. Wear a thin underarmor shirt under the brace. 2. Moisturize rash or dry spot from brace with lotion 3. Put Blanket around the spot on the back where the brace is while sleeping. Sleeping in the brace can cause scoliosis if you don't account for the back cushion by putting padding of equal height all around your back. 4. Don't wear the brace harder than the doctors tell you. Wear the brace tight enough that it's uncomfortable, but not painful 5.Wear the brace consistently, not in short hard spurts ,to get the best results. 6. Don't hide your pectus carinatum or the brace. This is psychologically unhealthy and will cause toxic shame within you. Expose your brace and be upfront and honest about why you wear it. People will understand. 7. Don't obsess over "fixing" your pectus carinatum or getting perfect results from the bracing. Brace with the mentality that you don't really need this and you could ultimately be okay without it. You will go insane if you care too much 8. Stretch a lot when not in brace. The brace compresses your ribcage, constricts your breath and prevents you from taking deep breaths you need to fully relax. The brace will make your muscles chronically tense and tight and the only way to counteract this is to stretch your whole body often. It will feel great too 9. Take care to relieve your body of stress because it will build up from the brace's anxiety inducing-effects 10. Workout in the brace. If old enough for weight lifting, do that.
