Asymmetric Wrap Dress (or Wrap Top) with Cape Sleeve & Waist Tie FABRIC RECOMMENDATION Crepe Soft suiting Silk crepe Duchess satin (for structure) Scuba (if you want a firm look) 👉 Medium-weight fabric works best so the cape sits well. MEASUREMENTS NEEDED Bust Under-bust Waist Hip (if full dress) Shoulder Front neckline depth Back length Desired top/dress length PATTERN CUTTING (STEP-BY-STEP) 1️⃣ CUT THE BASE BODICE Use a basic fitted bodice block (front & back). Front: create princess dart or waist dart Back: normal waist dart Length: top length or full dress length ✂️ Cut: Front bodice ×2 (for wrap overlap) Back bodice ×1 on fold 2️⃣ CREATE THE WRAP FRONT On the front bodice, extend the center front by 4–6 inches (10–15cm) Draw a deep V-neckline One front piece overlaps the other diagonally Extend one side longer to form the asymmetric hem 👉 This creates the wrap illusion. 3️⃣ CUT THE CAPE SLEEVE This is NOT a normal sleeve. How to draft the cape: Trace the armhole of the bodice Extend outward like a semi-circle or fan shape Length: 6–9 inches (15–23cm) Keep it soft and flowy ✂️ Cut: Cape sleeve ×2 👉 The cape is sewn into the armhole like a facing. 4️⃣ BACK BODICE Normal fitted back Short sleeve extension or sleeveless Cape covers the armhole, so no sleeve needed 5️⃣ WAIST TIE / BELT Cut a strip: Length: waist ×2 Width: 2–3 inches Sew and turn Attach at side seam 6️⃣ PIPING / CONTRAST EDGE Cut bias strips Use black piping or bias tape Attach along: Neckline Cape edge Wrap hem Asymmetric edge #WrapBlouseSewing #WrapGownTutorial #CapeSleeveSewing #HowToSewCapeSleeve #StylishWrapTop #AsymmetricBlouse #OverlapTopSewing #PeplumTopSewing #FlareTopSewing #OffShoulderTopSewing #HowToCutAndSew #DressCuttingAndSewing #FashionDesignTutorial #LadiesTopSewing #ModernBlouseDesign #DIYFashionDesign #PatternMakingTutorial #SewingForBeginners #TailoringClass #AfricanFashionDesigner #TrendyLadiesWear #SewingYouTube #FashionTutorial #DressMaking #MakysClosetp
