During deliberations on the Electoral Bill in the House, Abdussamad Dasuki (Santurakin Sokoto) moved an amendment to Section 60(6), which currently prescribes a 500k NGN fine or a six-month sentence for electoral officers who deliberately refuse to transmit election results. He proposed removing the option of a fine and increasing the custodial sentence to ensure that all polling-unit results are transmitted without exception so Nigeria can finally have a fair and transparent election process.
