Join us in this episode as we step off the beaten path of Laureles to explore some lesser-known and authentic neighborhoods right here in Medellín, Colombia. Instead of sticking to the typical tourist areas, we're diving deeper into the everyday life of the city — discovering local culture, vibrant markets, and unique public spaces you won’t always find in travel guides. We begin our journey at Plaza Minorista Jose Maria Villa, where we take part in a multi-sensory Colombian fruit tasting experience. From exotic fruits you may have never heard of to local flavors bursting with color and tradition, this market is a must-see for food lovers and curious travelers. Here is the link to the tour we took with Sergio: airbnb.com/x/frutasexoticasmedellin Next, we make our way through Plaza do La Libertad (Liberty Plaza), a dynamic urban space full of sculptures, movement, and city energy. Then, we explore the Unidad Deportiva de Belén, one of Medellín’s largest public sports complexes and community gathering points — a perfect place to see how locals live, play, and stay active. This complex features numerous facilities including several soccer fields, a track, climbing wall, children's play area, an archery range, a multi-sports court (basketball, pickleball, & volleyball), pools, a BMX course, and a huge outdoor weights gym. Finally, we share one of our favorite finds - Panaderia y Pasteleria Capicu - for the most delicious treats we've found over the last month here in Medellin. If you're looking for hidden gems in Medellín, want to explore beyond Laureles and El Poblado, or are curious about what daily life is like in Medellín’s local neighborhoods, this episode is for you! #ExploreMedellín #BudgetTravel #HiddenGems #thingstodoinmedellin
