In today's video, we look at none other than the legendary showman and former soldier-turned-buffalo-hunter Buffalo Bill Cody himself. Once the son of a Canadian surveyor and staunch supporter of the American abolitionist movement, Buffalo Bill Cody transformed into one of the most discussed, complex, and undeniably popular figures of old west lore. Regardless of his exploits and influence on American popular culture, Cody lived a life emblematic of so many ideas and themes saturating the way we talk about the influence of the frontier lifestyle, both of the past and into the modern age. In order to gain a better understanding of how a scout for the US Army became synonymous with the term “old west,” we present a closer inspection into the tales and times of one of the most famous showmen in history. This is William Frederick Cody, colloquially known as Buffalo Bill, and the story of his life and times traversing the western frontier. 00:00:00 Intro 00:1:45 Early Life 00:14:28 From Jayhawks To Buffalo 00:31:49 The Greatest Showman 00:50:05 Buffalo Bill’s Wild West 01:03:34 The Twilight Years Music produced by CO.AG: / @co.agmusic Thank you for watching.
