How to Make and Use a Story Pole SD 480p HD 720p

This is a demonstration of how to make and use a STORY POLE to create a simple, accurate, and strong interlock as part of the LAMP PROJECT in my Art 5, 3D-Design course. Students design beautiful, complex, and functional lamps using a set of guidelines that allow them to make hanging enclosures of various shapes. The process involves choosing a geometric solid that defines basic polygons. In my example, the solid is a truncated dodecahedron, which contains 20 triangles and 12 pentagons. These polygons are called MODULES. The students then design EXTENSIONS off of the modules based upon several guidelines that give them various design skills. The extensions make their lamps unique. an interlock must be created to allow the modules to connect at the extensions and form a complete enclosure with no glue or other fasteners - and the STORY POLE will make the process every simple and easy.
