Top Tactic for Catching Summer Walleye | Bottom Bouncers and Spinners Along Deep Weed Edges

Top tactic for catching walleyes each summer occurs on the deep outside weed edge. For fishing next to this deep weed line, few presentations are as efficient as a simple bottom bouncer and spinner harness. The bottom bouncer will collect many of the weeds and serve as a weed guard ahead of your presentation. We often run heavier bottom bouncers to keep them directly below the boat as we follow the contour. Another modification we make is to shorten up the spinner snells to 2-3 feet when fishing deep weed edges. We often tip the harness with an Eye Candy Rigging Leech for added action and durability. This tip was filmed on Lake Audubon in western North Dakota where we found fish on the outside edge of the curly leaf pondweed in 12-15 feet of water but this deep weed edge tactic with bottom bouncers and spinners works on many natural lakes. Typically we often find more fish on the shade side of the weed edge come mid summer. Another note is that tactic shines when the water has just enough stain or color where we can get away with driving the boat over the top of fish.
