I received this torch last year in some type of Christmas gift exchange thing. I normally do not like or use rechargeable torches as I want to be able to swap out the batteries when the charge gets low, rather than stop operation and plug in the light for recharge. I typically opt to use Maglites with NiMh or NiCd batteries. This unit turned out to be better than I expected in terms of design. It utilizes a standard size 18650 rechargeable lithium ion battery, which is easily removed, replaced, and recharged externally. It's comprised of all metal, feels sturdy, and is compact with a belt clip. The light angle can be focused or wide. Time will tell how long it lasts and how much abuse it can take, but for now it seems surprisingly satisfactory. I have serious doubts about the quality of the onboard charging circuitry, but feel this could be used relatively safely if the battery is recharged in a high quality microprocessor external charger. I kept this with the thought that it may fit into my bike light mount and would perhaps be brighter than the one I currently have. The current one works off 3 NiMh AAA batteries, which is my preference. Upon reviewing the video, this new torch does appear brighter than the AAA torch, but in person, I didn't detect anywhere near as much difference. The AAA torch has been used for 2 night rides since I last charged the batteries, so it's likely not operating at full brightness anymore. I probably should have charged both torches before the comparison. It overall seems like a satisfactory unit, but as with many newer products, I just don't see any reason to use it. I like the existing bike light I have, it works the way I want it to, and this new one doesn't really work any better or offer any relevant advantages. It's good enough to keep as a backup, but that's about it.
