A canyoneering adventure in Grand Canyon National Park, late October, through Whispering Falls Canyon, as described in "Grand Canyoneering" by Todd Martin. The route we took begins at Sowats Point, down to the head of Kwagunt Hollow, across the base of the Hermit Shale to Indian Hollow on the less than simple Esplanade layer, then across more and more complex terrain past the head of Rattlesnake Canyon, past Kirk's Chasm, and on into Whispering Falls. First night spent on the last bench of Supai Sandstone. The next day, we did the rest of the amazing canyon, including the massive final rappel, then out to Kanab Creek and up to Showerbath Spring, where we spent another night in the rain. The next day we made it up to Jumpup Canyon, hiked up Kwagunt Hollow and out Sowats Point. Huge thanks to Todd Martin and Rich Rudow for pioneering these routes! Link to the GPX file, the actual route we took varies from this a little bit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WdFT... Highest Elevation, Sowats Point : 6120 feet / 1865 meters Lowest Elevation, Mouth of Whispering Falls Canyon : 2170 feet / 661 meters Total Distance: 31.75 Miles / 51.1 Kilometers
