Are you somewhat confused on what happened to the old Time-line and what possible return we could have for Trunks in the future? Well let's explore these questions. Hello and welcome back all my Dragon Ball Theorist. The end of the Trunks Arc was pretty dark. I mean Zamasu became the Universe itself and Zeno erased an entire Time-line. I mean everything! Kinda sad that all that Trunks and our Heroes fought so hard for was completely wiped out. However that is exactly what happened, in the Manga they even went on to show the Time ring breaking to solidify that this entire parallel world is now gone for good. I think it was confusing for fans because the Time machine went back to pick up Future Zeno but the only reason that happened was because it had been at those coordinates before. However make no mistake, the entirety of this paradox is now gone. Which brings us too how these alternate Time-lines are created and Time line 7 in which Future Trunks and Mai now live in with other versions of themselves. Simply using a Time-machine doesn't create one of these paradoxes which is what actually creates a new split in the flow of time. A paradox is created when something is altered like when Beerus hakai'd Zamasu. This would of never happened if Future Trunks didn't alert them of the troubled future and Goku Black. So when Whis and Beerus intervened they created a split in the flow of time where there are parallels where Zamasu is erased and one where he isn't.
