Orange Purple Marmalade, from Hendersonville, NC, circa 1969. featuring Theresa "Queen of the Drums" Crouch and her soon-to-be husband Terry Justus. This amazing couple made music together for over 40 years. In 1975 the band changed its name to Justice and continued playing, frequently in the Asheville area. Their best known song is the underground classic "Pink and Green" featuring an alternate vocal track by Shirley Hughey, who is the only credited performer on the 45 label (Bandit, Asheville, NC, 1969). This take of "Summertime" is from a follow-up demo session also recorded at Galaxie III Studio in Taylorsville, NC. A great 8-minute jam featuring an incredible vocal by Theresa and solos by band members... especially great organ part and thunderous drums by one of the few, and certainly most notable, female rock drummers in Western North Carolina... or the entire southeast region for that matter! No rights implied, just couldn't sit on it any longer... too many folks deserve to appreciate it. Thank you, Theresa for sharing a bit of your outstanding legacy with modern listeners!
