Tangshan(Chinese: 唐山) Located in the east of Hebei Province, on the coast of the Bohai Sea. About 149 kilometers (93 miles) east from Beijing. Tangshan is named after Dacheng Hill (Chinese:大城山), which was called Mount Tang, in the middle of the city. In A.D. 645, Li Shimin, an emperor of Tang dynasty and his army were stationed at Dacheng Hill on his way back from the Korean Peninsula. Unfortunately, Caofei, his beloved concubine, died there. In order to commemorate her, he named the mountain with the name of the empire — Tang. Later, the city took the name of the mountain. Tangshan is a coastal, industrial city,Known as the "Porcelain Capital of the North". It is also a major producer of iron and steel, coal and oil. The earthquake of July 28, 1976 (7.8 on the Richter scale) completely destroyed the city. After more than ten years of recovery and reconstruction, the city re-emerged in the 1990s. It is a new industrialized base and port city in China's Bohai Rim region. During the daytime, we will start from Tangshan Railway Station and cross the city along the bustling Xinhua Road.
