The newly refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLE has gained a new trim: the GLE450e! This plug-in hybrid version of the midsize GLE SUV combines the GLE350's turbo inline-4 with a new PHEV system that gives it up to 75 km of range! But how does that addition, when combined with the GLE's revised exterior and interior, change our opinion of Mercedes' midsize offering? After all, our review of the 2021 GLE wasn't entirely positive. To find that out we have invited the Volvo XC90 Recharge to serve as our benchmark. While the XC90 Recharge isn't the most up-to-date luxury SUV on the market, it does offer plenty of refinement, comfort, and most importantly, a well-working PHEV system.
